If you’re interested in building a blog or website, consider using a content management system like WordPress. WordPress may be the easiest platform available for building websites and blogs. Even better, WordPress is free. It’s an open source software for building websites and blogs and it has a huge community of developers. I’ve heard that as many as 25% of the websites on the  web have WordPress running in the back ground.

Here are some other reasons to use WordPress:

  1. Content Management

WordPress is a Content Management System. It runs in the background and helps keep your content organized. It also helps you post your content in the right place and at the right time.
  2. Free Tutorials

There are thousands of free tutorials available on the web. If you want to do it, there is likely a written or visual tutorial available. I have never paid anyone for the basics of learning how to build websites and blogs using WordPress. Everything I know about WordPress has been learned via Google search. With diligence and some time, everything you need to know can be learned with little or no cost.
  3. Ease of Use

I have used other Content Management Systems like Drupal. I have also used some of the website creation softwares available. WordPress is as easy or easier than all of them. Some of them have such a steep learning curve that most of us would be wasting our time to learn them. WordPress does take time to figure out, but it is one of the most learnable platforms available.
  4. Availability of Themes

Themes are what make a website or blog look good. Cloths to us are like themes to WordPress. They are the dress code, the fashion statement, the covering and the color. Type “WordPress Themes” into your search bar and hundreds of great sites will pop up. Many the themes cost money. They are referred to as Premium Themes. Others are free, and some of the free ones are as good as a Premium Theme. I typically buy a theme. You do what works for you! Oh, and by the way, WordPress comes with a default blog theme called Twenty Eleven. You can get your blog/site up an running and then find a theme later.

More can be said, but suffice it to say, WordPress is an incredible platform for building your own online presence.
